1974 – The Pittsburgh Penguins trade Blaine Stoughton and a first-round draft pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Rick Kehoe.

1974 – Jon Culp caps a 66-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown run through the mud with four minutes remaining, and Mike Duke kicks the extra point, as defending WPIAL Class B champion Jefferson-Morgan edges host Bentworth, 7-6.

1975 – Marvin Lewis scores on a pair of one-yard touchdown runs as Fort Cherry improves its record to 2-0 with a 12-0 win at Avonworth.

1979 – John Abajace, a former assistant under Joe Shook, is hired as head wrestling coach at Trinity High School.

1991 – Following a lightning delay or more than one hour, the Beth-Center and Washington high school football teams put on a show that was worth the wait. Beth-Center uses Shawn Rohrer’s 112 yards on 21 carries, including touchdown runs of 20 and six yards, to edge the Prexies 34-28 at Wash High Stadium. The win improves B-C’s record to 3-0.

1997 – Mike Vernillo of Fort Cherry rushes for 424 yards on 30 carries and scores four touchdowns in the Rangers’ 29-0 victory over Avonworth. Vernillo scores on runs of 31, 16, 46 and 95 yards.

2002 – Travis Thomas returns the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, then rushes for 146 yards and four more scores as Washington routs Southmoreland, 46-14.
