1973 – Freshman Tony Dorsett sets Pitt’s single-game rushing record with 265 yards on 38 carries in a steady rain as the Panthers win at Northwestern, 21-14. Dorsett scores the game-winning TD on a 79-yard run in the third quarter.

1975 – Jefferson-Morgan’s Greg Battistoni shoots a round of 79 to win the WPIAL Southern Regional Golf Qualifier at Valley Brook Country Club.

1978 – Mark Miller runs 55 yards for a touchdown, sets up a second score with a 41-yard punt return and returns an interception 75 yards for a TD as Beth-Center defeats West Mifflin South 19-0.

1985 – Though it outgains host West Virginia by 185 yards and tailback A.B. Brown rushes for 105, Pitt settles for a 10-10 tie at Mountaineer Field.

1985 – Brendan Folmar throws a pair of three-yard touchdown passes 3:11 apart in the fourth quarter and visiting California University extends the longest winning streak in NCAA Division II to 10 games with a 14-9 victory over Edinboro.

1986 – Less than three weeks before the start of preseason practice, California University men’s basketball coach Tim Loomis resigns to become an assistant at Penn State. Loomis coached the Vulcans for six seasons and had a 72-87 record. He guided Cal to the PSAC championship in 1985.

1990 – Michael Beasley runs for a career-best 197 yards and Greg Jones passes for two touchdowns as visiting West Virginia defeats Pitt, 38-24.

2000 – California High School’s Ryan Howell rushes for two touchdowns and makes a key interception as the Trojans improve their record to 5-0 with a 34-12 victory over Jefferson-Morgan at Booster Field.

2011 – Ray Grahm rushes for 226 yards and three touchdowns, and Pitt scores 24 unanswred points in the second half to to beat South Florida 44-17 at Heinz Field.

2012 – West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith ties a Big 12 Conference record with eight touchdown passes to go with 656 passing yards as the Mountaineers defeat Baylor, 70-63.
