1972 – The American Basketball Association purchases the Pittsburgh Condors and disbands the franchise.
1975 – The Pittsburgh Penguins declare bankruptcy after eight seasons. The doors of the Civic Arena are padlocked by the IRS.
1979 – The National Basketball Association’s general managers and coaches vote to adopt the 3-point field goal for the 1979-80 season.
1987 – The Pittsburgh Penguins select Seattle defenseman Chris Joseph with the fifth pick of the NHL Entry Draft.
2008 – Canon-McMillan scores seven runs in the first two innings and cruises to a 10-2 victory over Spring-Ford to win the PIAA Class AAAA baseball championship at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona. The Big Macs score 40 runs in winning four state playoff games.
2008 – Matt Spiegel throws a two-hit shutout as Camp Hill defeats Carmichaels 2-0 in the PIAA Class A baseball championship game.
2011 – Peters Township High School hires Brian Geyer as its athletic director. Geyer had been AD at Seton LaSalle.
