Monongahela man fatally struck by vehicle

The individual fatally struck by a vehicle in Hempfield Township early Sunday morning was identified as a Monongahela man.
Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson confirmed that Dominic Alphonse Bottino, 22, was the victim of fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident in front of 5209 US 30 East at 2:08 a.m. Oct. 1.
Carson reported that Bottino was a pedestrian crossing Route 30 when he was struck by a motor vehicle.
Bottino was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Russell A. Morgan at 5:30 a.m. with the cause of the accidental death reported as blunt force trauma.
Carson said toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.
The Pennsylvania State Police in Greensburg are currently investigating the incident and will release additional information.
