MMA coming to The Meadows
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will host two mixed-martial-arts events on back-to-back days Oct. 20 and 21 with both events scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The first event is “247 FC: Sprawl in the Burgh 2,” which features submission-only matches with strikes being banned.
“Brawl in the Burgh 18” will take place the next night and feature full MMA bouts where strikes are allowed.
The two events are being promoted by 247 Fighting Championships, which is a Pittsburgh-based promotion that showcases athletes in Western Pennsylvania under general manager Hunter Homistek.
Jefferson-Morgan graduate Gavin Teasdale competed in the first “Sprawl in the Burgh” event.

Boys soccer
Charleroi remains undefeated following a 3-0 non-section victory over Elizabeth Forward on Saturday at Myron Pottios Stadium.
The Cougars’ Landon Barcus had a goal and assist. Teammates Arlo McIntyre and Declan Carter also scored goals.
Muhammad Cisse had an assist.
Nate Mazon stopped 12 shots for the clean sheet.
Charleroi improved to 15-0 overall.
Girls soccer
Megan Keturakis scored the golden goal 15 seconds into overtime as Bentworth edged South Side Beaver, 2-1, on Saturday in non-section play at South Side Beaver.
South Side (1-7, 1-12) had a 1-0 lead at halftime, but Keturakis scored in the second half to send the match into overtime.
South Side had a team back out of playing and the Bearcats decided to play the game on short notice.
Bentworth improved to 7-6-1 overall. The Bearcats are 4-5-1 in Class A Section 2 with matches remaining with Beth-Center (0-9-0, 2-10-0) and Chartiers-Houston (7-3-0, 11-3-0) but would need to win and get some help to qualify for the postseason.
