Trinity didn’t have a letdown following last week’s stunning victory over Thomas Jefferson in earning a 38-7 victory over Laurel Highlands Friday night in Class 4A Big Seven Conference play.
Trinity’s victory and Connellsville’s loss to Latrobe clinched a playoff berth for the Hillers.
Trinity (3-2, 5-3) scored on all six of its possessions in the first half for a 38-0 lead at halftime.
Dante DeRubbo pulled in the first of two touchdown receptions from Jonah Williamson at 8:23 of the first quarter and Andy Palm connected on the first of five extra points.
Palm kicked a 22-yard field goal for a 10-0 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Andrew Durig caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Williamson at 10:57 of the second quarter before Williamson found the end zone on an 11-yard run. DeRubbo caught his second touchdown pass (26 yards) and Nico Mauro’s one-yard run extended Trinity’s lead to 38-0 at halftime.
Williamson was 14 of 20 for 182 yards and gained 63 yards on eight carries. Teammate Luke Lacock caught four passes for 65 yards. Durig gained 64 yards on six attempts.
Antwan Black Jr. scored on a three-yard run with 1:45 remaining to help the Mustangs (0-4, 1-7) avoid the shutout.
Washington 67, Charleroi 0
Washington had 408 yards rushing and its defense pitched a shutout in a 67-0 victory in Class 2A Century Conference play at Myron Pottios Stadium.
The Prexies’ Eddie Lewis rushed for 166 and scored three touchdowns. Teammate Tristan Reed was 4 of 9 for 100 yards and one touchdown.
Zxavian Willis caught a 29-yard touchdown reception from Reed in the first quarter and Bodie Cumer made the second of seven PATs for a 13-0 lead.
Treshawn Porter scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards. Cayden Cook had a 5-yard touchdown run and James Carter scored on runs of 4 and 24 yards.
Wash High improved to 4-0 in conference play and 8-0 overall.
McGuffey 16, Keystone Oaks 14
McGuffey built a nine-point first-half lead and held on with the help of a blocked field goal in the fourth quarter to edge Keystone Oaks 16-14 in a Class 2A Century Conference game at Dormont Stadium.
The win keeps McGuffey (5-0, 6-2) alone in first place in the conference. The Highlanders are a half-game ahead of Washington.
The Highlanders forged a quick 9-0 lead in the first quarter. A bad snap on a punt by Keystone Oaks (2-2, 4-4) led to the Golden Eagles’ punter being tackled in the end zone for a safety and 2-0 advantage for McGuffey. On the enuing possession, Highlanders quarterback Connor Crowe raced 65 yards for a touchdown that mde it 9-0.
Keytone Oaks closed to within 9-7 when Nathan Rohe picked up a McGuffey fumble and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.
Late in the first half, McGuffey’s Logan Carlisle returned a KO punt 39 yards to the Golden Eagles’ six-yard line. Three plays later, Charles Wagers scored one a one-yard plunge that put the Highlanders up 16-7 with 1:01 left in the first half.
KO intercepted a McGuffey pass on the Highlanders’ first possession of the second half and it set up DiMajio Locante’s three-yard TD run that pulled KO to within 16-14.
McGuffey came up a big play in the foruth quarter when it blocked a Keystone Oaks field goal. On KO’s next possession, the Golden Eagles started at the McGuffey 49 but turned the ball over on downs at the Highlanders’ 30 with 3:54 left. McGuffey then was able to run out the clock.
Waynesburg 38, Uniontown 6
Breydon Woods ran for three touchdowns in Waynesburg’s 38-6 victory over Uniontown in non-conference play at Waynesburg.
Jake Stephenson threw his first of two touchdown passes at 9:48 of the first quarter, as Chase Fox pulled in a 13-yard reception for a 6-0 lead.
Jack Ricciuti caught a 13-yard reception from Stephenson in the end zone for a 13-0 advantage after Dalton Taylor made the first of three PATs.
Woods’ 29-yard run extended Waynesburg’s advantage to 20-0 with three seconds left in the first quarter.
After a scoreless second quarter, Woods raced 71 yards into the end zone with 1:45 left in the third. Colby Pauley caught the two-point reception from Stephenson.
Woods capped the scoring for Waynesburg (2-2, 6-2) on an 18-yard run with 8:59 left in the fourth quarter.
Uniontown’s K’Adrian McLee got his team on the scoreboard after pulling in a 58-yard reception from Cam Jackson on a halfback pass.
Jefferson-Morgan 46, Monessen 12
Wide receiver Deakyn Dehoet caught three touchdown passes and also returned a kickoff for a score, sparking Jefferson-Morgan to a 46-12 victory over Monessen at Parker Field.
Dehoet caught scoring passes of 68 and 25 yards from Houston Guesman in the first half, then took a wide receiver screen pass 80 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Dehoet caught six passes for 192 yards.
Dehoet returned the second-half kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown that gave Jefferson-Morgan (4-1, 5-3) a 30-12 lead.
Guesman, who was 8-for-8 passing for 206 yards and three scores, had a seven-yard TD run in the first quarter. John Woodward added a six-yard touchdown burst in the fourth quarter.
Both touchdowns by Monessen (1-4, 2-6) came on kickoff returns. Tim Kershaw returned one 86 yards for a score in the first quarter and Tyvaughn Kershaw had an 83-yard return in the second quarter.
J-M’s Collin Bisciglia rushed for 107 yards on 13 carries.
Belle Vernon 55, Mount Pleasant 7
Belle Vernon trailed Mount Pleasant by one in the first quarter, but it was all Leopards after that in a 55-7 victory in Class 3A Interstate Conference play.
Belle Vernon’s Anthony Crews opened the scoring on an 83-yard run and Quinton Martin scored on two touchdowns runs and caught a 25-yard pass from Kitty Wade for a touchdown. Wade was 8 of 10 for 130 yards.
The Leopards’ Kole Doppelheuer caught 3 passes for 88 yards and scored on a 70-yard touchdown reception and 62-yard run.
Belle Vernon improved to 3-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall.
