The executive parade committee for the Monongahela Veterans Council will meet at VFW 1409 – Black Diamond, 793 E. Main St, Monongahela, on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. The group will gather to finalize the activities related to the Veterans Day celebration and parade. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

Mon Valley Paws will host a food day on Oct. 28 Dawg’s Sports Bar and Grill, 110 Sara Way, Belle Vernon, from 5-9 p.m. MVP will have a basket auction and a food collection during this event. For more information, call 724-493-8305.

Monessen Community Development Corporation and the Monessen Recreation Board will host the 10th annual Monessen Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 28 from 2-4 p.m. at Monessen City Park’s walking track. In the event of rain, festivities will be moved to the upper parking lot near the restrooms. All are welcome to hand out candy from their decorated vehicles, and parents or guardians are invited to bring children of any age to attend. Prizes will be given for the best-decorated vehicle. On average, the trunk or treat sees 300 to 500 attendees annually. Any organizations or community members interested in registering their vehicles and handing out candy at the event should contact event organizer Karla Spangler at kspang06@gmail.com.

Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living, 791 Locust Ave., will host door-to-door trick or treat on Oct. 30 from 5-6:30 p.m. Please RSVP by Oct. 23 to 724-705-1867 and leave your name, number of children and ages.

McDonald will host a children’s Halloween parade at 5:30, with lineup at East End Park at 5 p.m. There will be treat bags and prizes. Please pre-register at 724-926-0133 or call borough office.
