Are you ready for a time warp while doing the “Time Warp?”
Westmoreland Performing Arts will stage “The Rocky Horror Show” Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, at the Science Hall Theatre at Westmoreland County Community College. Shows will be held at 8 p.m. and midnight on both dates.
The yearly performance has a theme, with this year’s being “All Things 1980s.” Spotted onstage will be the likes of Marty McFly, The Terminator, Steve Urkel, Cyndi Lauper, Rocky Balboa, Baby from “Dirty Dancing,” Michael Myers, Madonna and many more 80’s icons. Audience members are urged to dress up as their favorite Rocky Horror or 80’s character.
The WPA cast includes Kevin O’Leary as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, J. Alex Noble as Riff Raff, Anthony Marino as Brad, Katherine Harkins as Janet, Alex Podolinski as Rocky, Renata Marino as Columbia, Ben Federico as Magenta, Tony Marino as Eddie/Dr. Scott and John Noble as the narrator.
The stage production, which debuted in 1973, was the inspiration for the 1975 movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Both are tributes to science fiction and horror movies from the 1930s through the early 1960s.
There will be a costume contest at the beginning of each show, and the winner will receive two tickets to an upcoming WPA show.
For tickets visit the WPA website at www.westmorelandperformingarts.com or call 724-672-3322.
