Eddie Lewis ran for three first-half touchdowns, Tristan Reed threw two long touchdown passes and undefeated Washington rolled to a 47-6 win over Brentwood in a Class 2A Century Conference game Friday night at Wash High Stadium.
The Prexies (1-0, 5-0) were in control from the start as they scored touchdowns on six of their first possessions and led 41-0 at halftime.
Ruben Gordon opened the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Reed only 1:07 into the game. Reed finished the game with five completion in eight attempts for 171 yards.
Lewis’ first touchdown run, covering five yards, gave Wash High a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Percy Dudley had the first score of the second quarter, a 19-yard scamper to the end zone. Lewis then scored on a 13-yard run and added a two-yard jaunt around left end to make it 35-0. Reed connected with wide open Zxavian Willis for a 64-yard touchdown pass late in the first half.
Brentwood (0-2, 0-5) finally scored when Forrest Betz caught a 23-yard pass from Cedric Davis midway through the third quarter.
Wash High’s James Carter capped the scoring with a 42-yard TD scamper in the fourth quarter.
Fort Cherry 42, OLSH 0
Shane Cornali returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and undefeated Fort Cherry never looked back, cruising to a 42-0 victory over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in a Class A Black Hills Conference game.
Fort Cherry (2-0, 5-0) led 14-0 after one quarter and then broke the game open with a 28-point second quarter.
The Rangers’ Ethan Faletto scored two touchdowns, and Matt Sieg threw for two scores and ran for another.
Bryadon Cook caught a 33-yard TD pass from Sieg that gave the Rangers a 14-0 lead.
Faletto caught a 30-yard TD pass from Sieg and added a five-yard TD run late in the first half. Nate Heirendt had an eight-yard scoring jaunt and Sieg broke free for a 21-yard TD run.
Neither team scored in the second half.
Canon-McMillan 14, South Fayette 7
Zyan Howard caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Mike Evans with 2:52 remaining, giving Canon-McMillan a hard-fought 14-7 victory over visiting South Fayette in a non-conference game.
The win was the third straight for Canon-McMillan (4-1).
The game-winning touchdown came on a third-and-20-play. Evans found Howard over the middle and the wide receiver made a move toward the left sideline and beat the South Fayette defense to the front corner of the end zone.
Evans completed 13 of 24 passes for 170 yards. C-M’s Zach Welsh rushed for 138 yards on 24 carries.
The first two touchdowns of the game were scored by quarterbacks. Evans opened the scoring with a 19-yard TD scamper in the first quarter. South Fayette’s Nico Lamonde tied it at 7-7 with a 25-yard jaunt in the second quarter. That’s the way the score remained until Howard’s TD pass.
Lamonde completed 18 of 29 passes for 146 yards for the Lions (2-3).
Burgettstown 39, Chartiers-Houston 0
Brodie Kuzior ran for a touchdown and passed for another, and Ryan Murray returned a punt 68 yards for a score as Burgettstown defeated winless Chartiers-Houston 39-0 in a Class A Black Hills Conference game.
Kuzior connected with Zach Shrockman on a 38-yard TD pass to open the scoring and added a 47-yard touchdown run. Both scores came in a 26-point first quarter by the Blue Devils (1-1, 2-2).
Schrockman also had a 34-yard TD run. Travis Coles and Colton County rounded out the scoring with TD runs.
Jefferson-Morgan 42, Beth-Center 8
Deakyn Dehoet scored three touchdowns in Jefferson-Morgan’s 42-8 victory over Beth-Center in Class A Tri-County South Conference game.
Dehoet caught touchdown passes of 50 and 44 yards from Houston Guesman, and also scored on a five-yard run. Guesman threw for three touchdowns and was 6-of-7 for 139 yards. Jaymison Remington caught a 22-yard touchdown pass, as Jefferson-Morgan improved to 1-1 in conference play and 2-3 overall.
Collin Bisceglia gained 16 of his 115 yards on a touchdown run in the first quarter. Dehoet caught 5 passes for 123 yards.
Ethan Varesko scored on a 62-yard run in the fourth quarter for B-C (1-1, 1-4).
Carmichaels 28, Mapletown 8
AJ Donaldson scored two touchdowns in Carmichaels’ 27-8 victory over Mapletown in Class A Tri-County South Conference game.
Will Murray opened the scoring for the Mikes, as he raced 52 yards to the end zone in the first quarter. Murray ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
The Mikes (1-1, 2-3) extended their advantage to 14-0 with four minutes remaining in the second quarter on Donaldson’s 4-yard run. Carmichaels took advantage of a muffed punt by the Maples (0-2, 2-3) that was recovered by the home team to set up the scoring drive.
Parker Hewitt pushed the lead to 20-0 on a 3-yard run in the third quarter.
Brock Evans got Mapletown on the scoreboard with a 2-yard run late in the third period.
Donaldson closed the scoring on a 19-yard run 50 seconds into the fourth.
Connellsville 47, Ringgold 12
Jayden McBride returned the opening kickoff 82 yards into the end zone and Connellsville carried that momentum in a 47-12 victory over Ringgold in Class 4A Big Seven Conference play.
The Falcons (1-1, 3-2) scored two more touchdowns in the first quarter for a 19-0 lead before the Rams’ Daryl Tolliver pulled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Will Toprani at 4:40 of the first quarter to cut the deficit to 19-6.
Connellsville then outscored the Ringgold 28-0 in the second quarter.
Tolliver caught a 37-yard touchdown reception with 33 seconds remaining in the third.
California 51, Monessen 20
California outscored Monessen 28-0 in the fourth quarter en route to a 51-20 victory in Class A Tri-County South Conference play.
Jake Layhue scored on interception returns of 45 and 78 yards in the final peroid.
In other games
Charleroi was a 35-7 winner over visiting Charleroi in a non-conference game. In the Class A Tri-County South Conference, West Greene was a 39-6 winner at Bentworth. No game details were available by presstime.
