Oswald – Booth wedding
The love story of Amanda Oswald, 27, and Brendan Booth, 28, is a true tale of modern love – they met on the dating app Tinder. But, they weren’t exactly blind strangers. Turns out, the two both went to the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown, and had some mutual friends. And, when it came to the proposal and their big day, patience proved to not be much of a virtue that the couple possessed.
Brendan had his great-grandmother’s ring custom designed for Amanda. “As soon as he picked up the ring from the jewelers, he drove to my parents’ house where he asked them if it was OK to propose to me that evening,” Amanda says. “When I got to his apartment that afternoon, I might have been there for just 10 minutes before he got down on one knee.”
That was in April, and the couple tied the knot just four months later. “I initially thought we’d be planning a spring 2017 wedding, but just a few days after we got engaged, Brendan asked me if it would be possible to try and do it in the fall,” Amanda says. “I immediately thought he was crazy, but gave it a try.”
The couple got lucky, in that the church and venue they wanted, Immaculate Conception Church in Washington and Southpointe Golf Club, were both available on the same day in September.
Amanda, a client manager for a wealth management firm in Southpointe, and Brendan, who is self-employed, currently live in Dormont. Since they planned their wedding so quickly, they decided to delay the honeymoon, and are taking a trip this fall to celebrate their one-year anniversary.
So, maybe they do have a little bit of patience.
